Arc de Triomphe
The Arc de Triomphe stands on the Place Charles de Gaulle, where twelve avenues meet. Napoleon commissioned the monument in 1806. Its reliefs and inscriptions commemorate the French armies, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier lies beneath its arch.
