Introduction
İstiklal Avenue is a pedestrian street in Beyoğlu that links Tünel and Taksim squares. It preserves buildings from the late Ottoman Empire, commercial arcades, churches and consulates. A historic tram runs along its route among shops, cultural venues and restaurants.
