Introduction

Chora, called Kariye Camii in Turkish, is a former Byzantine church in the Edirnekapı neighbourhood that now serves as a mosque. It preserves mosaics and frescoes made during the Byzantine Empire. The building also served as a museum for much of the twentieth century and reopened for worship in May 2024.
