PRIVACY AND ANALYTICS
How we measure usage
Usage measurement in Free Tour Go is optional. On the web and in the app, Google Analytics activates only when you choose “Allow measurement.” You can decline and keep using the service.
What we measure
We record visits to public pages, app screens, and actions such as opening a city, selecting a place, starting or completing a walk, downloading a map, listening to content, and saving a contribution. We also measure whether a search returned results, without sending what you typed. Events include categories and counts to help us understand which features work and where errors occur.
Our measurement code does not send search text, GPS coordinates, routes walked, photos, audio, reviews, contact details, or account identifiers. URLs sent from the web do not include query parameters. After you consent, Google Analytics may collect general device and browser information, approximate location, and a pseudonymous browser or app installation identifier. Learn about Google Analytics default collection.
The “Contribute to the collective map” option sends all GPS points recorded during new walks, with the date and time of each point, when each walk ends if you enable it. It can also send up to 128 photo positions with their times and up to 128 place observations with summed qualifying stays of at least 30 seconds per place and the weekday, month and local hour of the first qualifying arrival. The request contains no account or walk identifier. We process it on receipt, discard the individual points and times, and keep only counts by area and place visit time, plus summed stay seconds by place to calculate the average; each administrative group requires at least 20 contributed walks. This option is not part of Google Analytics and is not enabled by accepting its measurement. See how these counts are processed and kept.
Why we measure and how long we keep data
We use statistics to improve search, maps, walks, and content. The Google Analytics property retains event data associated with identifiers for 14 months. Aggregate reports follow different retention rules. We do not enable ad personalization or optionally share Analytics data with Google for benchmarking, support, or account specialists.
Your choice
On the web, use “Measurement preferences” at the bottom of any page. In the app, open Settings and choose “Enable measurement” or “Disable measurement.” When you disable it, we stop sending new events and ask the app SDK to delete its local analytics data. Data sent before you changed your choice remains subject to the retention period above.
