Introduction
Ortaköy Mosque stands on the Bosphorus waterfront in Beşiktaş. Officially called Büyük Mecidiye Camii, it was commissioned by Sultan Abdülmecid in the nineteenth century. The building has a domed prayer hall and imperial apartments. Its exterior has carved stone decoration and two minarets.
